THE VALUE OF OUR NATURAL ENVIRONMENT

Scientists and economists recently collaborated in a study of five natural habitats converted for human use and commercial profit. A tropical forest in Malaysia was razed for intensive logging , a tropical forest in Cameroun was converted to oil palm and rubber plantations, a mangrove swamp in Thailand was turned over to shrimp farming, a freshwater marsh in Canada was drained for agriculture, and a coral reef in the Philippines was dynamited for fishing.           The researchers came up with some surprising results. Had those five natural habitats been left in their wild state, their long-term economic value to the community would have been from 14 to 75 percent more than after conversion. In fact, an ecosystem loses, on average, half its value as a result of human interference, and each year, environmental conversion costs $250 billion . By contrast, preserving natural systems would cost $45 billion . The researchers say that goods and services –in the form of

THE REAL PURPOSE OF JESUS MIRACLES

They were usually wrought by the act of Jesus’ will, or by his word; sometimes by his touch, or the laying on of his hands. Occasionally he used saliva.            Jesus’ miracles imply an exercise of creative power. They accord with his miraculous origin, sinless nature, and moral perfection. They were a part of God’s way of authenticating Jesus’ mission. Jesus said that if he had not done works that no other ever did, they would not have had sin, thus indicating that he regarded his miracles as proofs that he was from God. Then, too, his miracles were the natural expression of his sympathy for suffering humanity.            Aside from supernatural manifestations, such as the angelic announcements , the virgin birth, the star that guided the wise-men, Jesus passing through hostile mobs, cleansing the temple, his transfiguration, the soldiers falling, the darkness at the crucifixion, the veil rent, the tombs opened, the earthquake, Jesus’ resurrection, angel appe

5 THINGS WE MUST WATCH OUT FOR IN OUR WORLD

[1]    WATER FOR TOURISTS : Many of the world’s resorts are struggling to cope with relentless waves of tourists, whose demands for ever more swimming pools and golf courses are sucking them dry. The issue is massive and global; sometimes you will see a village in Africa with a single tap, when each hotel has taps and showers in every room. A global conservative organization calculates that a tourist in Spain uses only 250 liters. An 18-hole golf course in a dry country can take as much water as a town of 10,000 people. The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization estimate that the water that 100 tourists use in 55 days would grow enough rice to feed 100 villagers for 15 years.      [2]    SMOKING HAZARDS : One in every 8 lung cancer deaths among nonsmokers. Scientists based their finding on a study of 52,000 people who died from lung cancer. Additionally, long-standing research shows that toxic carbon monoxide and carcinogens are more prevalent in secondary

THE MAGNETIC HEALER [MIRACLES]

A lot is said about power of thought and the radiations of mental energy that the student is often misled in understanding just how these radiations manifest themselves. All nerve energy is electrical, this fact immediately opens the door-way to a vast field of research and incidentally to a larger field of speculation. Nerve energy is electrical, and with this fact as a premise or starting point begin to speculate wildly and illogical, and therefore come to all sorts of erroneous conclusions. If the nerve energy in the human body was directed and concentrated to a point in the fingers then in addition to merely producing a physiological effect within the fingers, a secondary effect in the nature of radiations of that energy would result, and this secondary effect would tend to radiate or move outward from the point or place of the original impulse, this impulse could be detected by sensitive persons or perhaps sensitive instrumen

WHEN A WOMAN SHOULD QUIT A RELATIONSHIP

The following are some warning signs; (a)     He often makes demeaning remarks about you, your family, or your friends, either when you are alone or when you are with others (b)    He usually ignores your wishes or feelings (c)     He tries to control every aspect of your life, insisting on knowing your whereabouts at all times and making all decisions for you (d)    He yell at you, pushes or shoves you, or threatens you (e)    He tries to talk   you into making inappropriate expressions of affection (f)      You can hardly do anything without worrying whether it might in some way irritate him     Experience shows that left unchecked, abusive treatment will only escalate. Your well-being could be seriously endangered !     Of course, it would be best not to get involved with someone lacking self-control. So if someone you do not know well wants to date you, it is a good idea to find out something about him. Why not sugg
