HOW THE BRAIN WORKS

The sixth sense; in primitive species, the only function of the limbic system is the regulation of the sense of smell. As the brain becomes more complex, the limbic system diversifies to regulate aspects of behavior, such as emotional expression, while retaining its tie to the olfactory system. It is interesting to note that ANUBIS- the jackalheaded god of Egypt, the guardian of the threshold, and symbol for the limbic system –had a particular acute sense of smell.       The limbic system’s ability to determine “this is it –this is truth,” is vital to creation of our mental realities. As “guardian at the inner threshold” it opens the heart to new understanding and facilitates the process of recollection and learning.     In the human mind, perceptions presented by the FIVE SENSES are compared to memory perceptions. Through its instrument, the limbic system, the faculty of imagination harmonizes inner and outer perceptions. The images created by imaginatio

HOW ALCOHOL CAN DAMAGE YOU

Alcohol misuse is a multifaceted problem that includes hazardous use, harmful use, and dependence. Hazardous use, is defined by the World Health Organization, is “a pattern of alcohol consumption carrying with it a risk of harmful consequences,” physical, mental, or social. It includes drinking than the limits recommended by the health authorities or imposed by the law. Harmful use, also called alcohol abuse, involves drinking that is already provoking either physical or mental damage but has not yet led to dependence. Dependence has been described as “the loss of control to abstain from drinking.” An alcohol-dependent person craves alcohol, continues to drink despite various alcohol-induced problems, and suffers from withdrawal in its absence.        No matter what your age, gender, or nationality, you are not free from the risks of hazardous drinking. Just what does alcohol do to the body? What are the health dangers of ove

MYSTERIOUS SOURCE OF INSIGHT: DÉJÀ VU

DÉJÀ VU gives us the feeling we have experienced an event before, even though this may seem to be an impossibility. Thus, the feeling of familiarity accompanying déjà vu is often unexpected and inexplicable, leading many people to wonder if their déjà vu experiences are psychic, physiological, or both.          A number of mechanisms have been advanced to account for the déjà vu experience. Because psychic experiences of many kinds have been associated with déjà vu, it has often been suggested that déjà vu itself is a psychic experience. In this regard, déjà vu has been reported to be the result of reincarnation memories, subconscious memories of dream projections or out-of-body –experiences, subconscious memories of precognitive dreams, and clairvoyance. A higher frequency of déjà vu experiences have been reported for those who meditate frequently.        Another proposed mechanism for déjà vu is that of bioche

WHY LAUGHING FEELS GOOD

Why does it feel so good to laugh? Research shows that humor activities not only regions of the brain associated with perception and language but also the nucleus accumbens, a region that has been linked to happiness and euphoria,   this neutral region is a very powerful brain subsystem. Humor helps physicians to understand social behavior better. One’s sense of humor often dictates if, how, and with whom we establish friendships and even long-lasting romantic relationships. Humor also is a universal coping mechanism when faced with all varieties of stress.

THE MAGNETIC HEALER [MIRACLES]

A lot is said about power of thought and the radiations of mental energy that the student is often misled in understanding just how these radiations manifest themselves. All nerve energy is electrical, this fact immediately opens the door-way to a vast field of research and incidentally to a larger field of speculation. Nerve energy is electrical, and with this fact as a premise or starting point begin to speculate wildly and illogical, and therefore come to all sorts of erroneous conclusions. If the nerve energy in the human body was directed and concentrated to a point in the fingers then in addition to merely producing a physiological effect within the fingers, a secondary effect in the nature of radiations of that energy would result, and this secondary effect would tend to radiate or move outward from the point or place of the original impulse, this impulse could be detected by sensitive persons or perhaps sensitive instrumen
